When she came back with the results, I wasn’t prepared for what she said.
Bailey was severely dehydrated. So bad it was already starting to affect his body.
I just stared at her. “That doesn’t make any sense… he drinks water.”
Because he did. I saw him drink every single day.
She looked at me and said something that honestly made me feel sick.
“Most dogs drink water… but they don’t actually drink enough to stay properly hydrated.”
Then she asked me something I’d never thought about.
“When Bailey drinks… does he take a few quick sips and walk away?”
Yes. Every time. A few licks… and then he’d leave. I had seen it hundreds of times and never once questioned it. I just thought that’s how dogs drank.
